A small brown bird with a powerful beak, the sparrow is the most familiar to man of all birds. It lives essentially everywhere that humans do. A lustful and passionate bird, the sparrow is one of our most populated neighbors who fly. In Greek mythology it is a symbol of love and spiritual connection. The Egyptians considered the sparrow a soul catcher, delivering the souls of the recently deceased to heaven. To have a sparrow tattoo has long symbolized freedom, undying love and commitment to a single person. Even against the power of Communist China the sparrow could not be defeated.
